We would like to welcome Max Leighton back to the Walker Institute after a six-month secondment with the Climate Synthesis Analysis Group at the University of Cape Town. He is a social scientist with a geographical background and works as a research assistant for Professor Ted Shepherd from the Meteorology Department of Reading.
He works within the FRACTAL project which brings together academics, local government and a whole host of other stakeholders to build the resilience of cities across southern Africa to climate change and water-related issues.
Max is currently leading a team of academics and practitioners from South Africa and Zambia, to construct a technical story for policy makers on the water situation in Lusaka, which includes plausible future scenarios derived from climate model experiments.
He is currently located within the Walker Institute as his work progresses with Ted Shepherd and will be presenting at an NCAS Seminar on 30th November at the University of Reading on "The Story of Water in Lusaka". More information on this to follow soon!
