Kathy Pain is the Professor of Real Estate Development and the Director of Research for Real Estate & Planning at the Henley Business School, University of Reading: http://www.henley.reading.ac.uk/people/person/professor-kathy-pain. She holds a PhD in geography and is a Corporate Member of the UK Royal Town Planning Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. She is Associate Director of the Globalization & World Cities (GaWC) Network for Global City Planning: http://www.lboro.ac.uk/gawc/Pain.html. She has published extensively on the sustainable economic and spatial development of global cities and mega-city regions. Her research has informed academic and policy thinking in the UK, Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Pacific Asia region. Her 2016-17 research for the US Urban Land Institute and the global commission, New Climate Economy, Supporting Smart Urban Growth: Successful Investing in Density, analyses the investment and planning priorities for more sustainable world urbanization.
